Fundraising

In the professional non-profit world, what most people call “Fund Raising” is termed “Donor Development.”  The focus of Donor Development is cultivating your supporters over time so they feel good about giving year after year and in greater amounts, culminating in gifts to your organization through planned giving.

Randolph Consulting is a Licensed Professional Fund Raiser in the State of Michigan (License # MIFR 43505).  As a Licensed Professional Fund Raiser, we can assist your organization to:

  • develop a comprehensive Donor Advancement strategy
  • identify specific segments of your donor base for appropriate cultivation
  • cultivate donors
  • appropriately ask for donations

Contact us to work with your board and staff to develop a comprehensive donor development strategy that is right for your organization.  Your organization should have an up-to-date Strategic Plan  in place that identifies your needs, goals and objectives before executing donor development activities.  Involving donors and stakeholders in strategic planning is part of the cultivation process and is why Randolph Consulting strongly recommends strategic planning be in place before undertaking Fundraising and/or Grant Writing efforts.

To engage Randolph Consulting, or any Licensed Professional Fund Raiser, your organization will need a Michigan Solicitation License. The form is available here (http://www.michigan.gov/documents/ag/Fillable_Initial_App_2-9-09_266590_7.pdf). Randolph Consulting can assist you in obtaining the license, if needed.

Please note that Randolph Consulting does not offer special event planning or execution.  Many organizations mistakenly equate special events with fund raising.  Special events are the least efficient of all ways to raise funds for an organization, and apply to Donor Development only to the extent the event is designed to attract new donors or cultivate existing supporters.
